How do you become a non-smoker?

The following is not your typical post, but one that I must post...

I've been wanting to quit smoking for years. For cost reasons, for health reasons, for many reasons. But I've never had success.
I know people weaker than me who have quit cold-turkey, didn't work for me.
I know people who quit slowly, I tried that, but always returned to a pack-a-day.
I know people who have quit with the patch, I smoked while wearing it.
I know people who quit with the gum, it tasted nasty so I spit it out and lit up.
I know people who quit with hypnosis, that's a joke, would never work for me.
I know people who quit through exersize, that for me just gets the nicotine circulating through my blood and makes me want to smoke again.
But I also have known many people to die from smoking and I must quit. I just need to find what works for me. I'm already two weeks past my new year's resolution and still smoking. Maybe the problem is that I like smoking.

Anyone have suggestions? Does anyone want to quit as well? How about a blogger-ex-smoker support group?

My last cigarette was Tuesday January 16th @ 10:30am.

did you have one since?
i hear ya.. i tried all of the above and found the same results that you mentioned.. i smoked with the patch, i always think that i'm strong otherwise except for this thing that i can't control. in my case, i'm very compulsive so i think it's more the habit that anything else..
we know that already but i have no idea how to fix it..
maybe hypnosis would work. maybe i'll try it and tell you what happens.
i like smoking too and i don't know if i really want to give it up..

To ammend my statement
My last cigarette was Wednesday Jan 17th @ 1:13pm (I didn't say it would last)

However; Health risks are too great to continue smoking.

What about acupunture? Laser therepy? Negative reinforcement?

I'm sickened by your attempt to quit, and those who support such a "cut and run" lifestyle. As someone who's quit the football and track team in both middle and high school, quit volunteering with the college republicans and their various rallies for anti-affirmative action and the castration of liberal leaning professors, resigned as the director for "everything is swell in Iraq" campaign for Halliburton, and quit my weekend hobbie as the flamethrower technician for the Minutemen, I've now realized that I've been a quitter all my life. Once I discovered the gospels of Phillip Morris and JR Reynolds, I was able to lift myself from the dark abyss of quitterdom and muster up the strength and courage to dedicate myself to a cause. The cause to continuing my smoking habit, with the hope that in the future, I will be vigilant enough to increase the amount of cigarettes smoked per day to somewhere between 3 to 4 packs. And with enough prayer and vitamins, I can ween myself of critical thought and midnight journeys into Detroit for crack and sex with other men.
I urge you, brother No-Words, to distance yourself from the cabal of satanic liberals and the brown people who follow them. Be the decider, and decide to embrace your culture and values, no matter how many godless, sexless bloggers say otherwise.
Decide to continue with the holy tradition of smoking. With enough prayer and support from myself and other like-minded people, it can happen.

off course the problem is that "you like smoking" You're not special. Thats the entire problem with smoking- ITS WONDERFUL!!! But so is eating a Big Mac everyday. Quiting is hard for EVERYONE- when you say things like "that didn't work for me" all that means is that YOU gave up. you DECIDED to be weak instead of going through the withdrawl of nicotine. Here's the thing...your not a weak person, so STAND UP!!!!!!

Well, its all in your head. Its an addiction, and everyone can get over an addiction. No matter what the addiction is!!

I know someone who is very dear to me who quit smoking after getting a second chance in life. Smoking could have cost him his life! He smoked for 40 years. Don't let it get to that point for you.

Always remember, its all in your head...

Thanks guys.
That's not all that's in my head, there are strange images and voices and worlds I can't explain. Time to do some house cleaning.

I wish I could punch some people, but then again I don't like anyone to get hurt.

I was just scolded by Rola (she'd prefer I punch myself and not smoke)

OK, it has been 3hours since then.

Transient, consider this period another period of "transience" into better, clearer (breathing) possibilities.. giving way to brighter sunny days and more wakeful hours full of awareness and resolve.

Of course, this period will be dotted with some coughing and cleansing of your system, but better now than when your 64.

So I'll move to...to....well, I'll edit tonight.

Can I get my blog to post?
No, I can't not get my blog to post.
Could I with a Mac?
No, not with a PC not even with a Mac, I could not, this blog is toast.

No video,
No audio,
No pictures,
No comments (except the annoying ones I leave people at 2am)
This is frustrating! I need to smoke.... but I won't.

Relax, today will be a better day. If not, tomorrow will. If not, the next day will. If not, next week or next month, or even next year will be better :) Always light at the end of the tunnel.

No feeling or situation ever stays the same transient!! You know that! Good day.

Hasn't been going well.
Stress is allowing the use of cigarettes as a crutch.
But can't quit quiting.
